Enterprise software

I hate working on enterprise software.

What’s the point really? Some big company uses the product I work on to tick off boxes on some checklist. Does it improve anyone’s life? I doubt it. Fine, then let me at least feel some sense of pride in creating something of high quality. No, you have to ship these 20 features that landed us a deal with this mega customer. Does it make the product more incoherent and painful to use? Doesn’t matter, all that counts is making the big fish happy.

A product that does not excite anyone, users that I could not care less about. No vision to create something well-rounded, no joy in the technicalities. Why am I doing this? What else can I do? I should get out of here, but I don’t know how.
